The patriarchal society we live in has conditioned us to view women as the weaker sex. They are often seen as a liability, which is why most families prefer a male child. There’s a powerful saying,  “when you educate a man, you educate a man but when you educate a woman, you educate a generation” . This is because education is the key to empowering women and girls, which helps bring about social equality and have far-reaching effects within the entire society. Women make up for almost half of the total population of India but they still lag behind men in a lot of areas. One such new initiative led by the government called   ' Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao'   which means save the girl child , educate the girl child. Initially, the scheme covered   12 districts of Haryana   because Haryana is one such state with  least girl child sex ratio .
